What is Buzz?

Buzz is where practice gets sharper — and a bit more competitive.

In Ocasta Boost, Buzz gives you another shot at the questions people found toughest last week. Instead of guessing what to revise, you’re focusing on the areas that actually tripped people up.

Types of Buzz session

There are two types of Buzz session:

  • Group Buzz — a team-based session where your store tackles last week’s toughest questions together.
  • Solo Buzz — an individual session where you practise the same high-impact questions on your own.

Group Buzz

Group Buzz is a team-based session focused on the weakest questions from your store in the previous week.

The manager runs the session by reading out the questions, while team members buzz in on their own devices to answer.

  • The fastest person to buzz answers first
  • If the answer is wrong, it opens back up for others to buzz in
  • The session continues until all questions are completed

You should have at least three people involved in a Group Buzz session, including the manager.

How do I set up a Group Buzz Session?

You'll need to have permission to set up Buzz Sessions. This is usually Managers or higher.

A Group Buzz Session is a session carried out at a particular store. The weakest questions are asked from the previous week. Group Buzz sessions earn XP for the whole store. See this article for more information on XP and leaderboard.

  1. Open the Albert app and navigate to 'Buzz' on the profile screen
  2. Select 'Group Buzz'
  3. Other users can join in using their devices as a buzzer by tapping 'Buzz' on their profile screen (note: if a fellow manager is joining in they can select 'Join Buzz' in the Buzz menu to open the buzzer screen)
  4. When everyone has their buzzers ready the manager can choose to start the buzz session
  5. The manager reads out the questions and the users need to buzz if the know the answer
  6. The user who was the quickest to buzz shares the answer for the manager to tap
  7. Continue until all the questions have been completed

Solo Buzz

For a Solo Buzz session you only need one person to complete it. They will get asked the questions as normal but there is only one person answering. This is so that users in location types without team mates don't lose out on the XP.

In the CMS you can enable any location types you wish as Solo Buzz Permitted, under the 'Location Types' section of 'Locations' (users at these locations will then see Buzz Alone instead of Group Buzz).

What points do I get for taking part in a Buzz Session?

For Solo Buzz or Group Buzz everyone in the store where it has taken place will receive 1000 XP. You can complete the buzz many times in a week, but only 1000 XP will be awarded.
