Leaf Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22/10/2026

Leaf is a drink diary for iPhone, made by Ocasta Studios Ltd ("Ocasta", "we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Leaf.

The short version

Leaf keeps your drink diary on your iPhone. We don't run an account system or a server for Leaf, and the app doesn't send your diary anywhere. There are no adverts, no analytics and no tracking. We only see your information if you choose to email us.

What Leaf stores, and where

Everything you enter into Leaf is stored on your iPhone, in Leaf's own storage:

  • the drinks you log, with their times
  • your drink list, including sizes, strengths, prices and calories
  • your daily unit budgets
  • your settings, such as reminders and units
  • if you use stopped (sober) tracking, the date of your last drink and any estimates you enter about your usual week

The Leaf widget reads the same information so it can show today's total on your Home Screen. It stays on your iPhone.

If you used an earlier version of Leaf, the app moves your history into the new version on first launch. It keeps a backup copy of your old diary on your iPhone in case anything goes wrong. That copy never leaves your device unless you choose to send it to us (see "Contacting us" below).

What we don't collect

Leaf doesn't collect your name, email address, location, contacts or any identifier for advertising. It doesn't use analytics or crash-reporting services, and it doesn't share or sell anything to anyone. In the App Store, Leaf's privacy label is "Data Not Collected".

Things that happen because of how your iPhone works

  • Backups. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, Leaf's data is included in that backup, along with your other apps. Apple's privacy policy covers iCloud backups.
  • File sharing. When your iPhone is connected to a computer, Leaf's files can be seen through Finder or the Apple Devices app. This lets you, or support, recover an old diary if needed.
  • Exporting. You can export your diary as CSV files. Where those files go is up to you. Once you share them, they're handled by the app or service you send them to.
  • Notifications. Reminders, challenges and support messages are scheduled on your iPhone. They don't come from a server.
  • Ratings. Leaf may ask you to rate it using Apple's standard rating prompt. Apple handles anything you submit.
  • The App Store. Apple processes your download and purchase information under its own privacy policy.

Contacting us

If you email us, for example using Contact Support in the app, we receive your email address and whatever you write. If Leaf couldn't move your history from an earlier version, the email also includes technical details about the problem: file sizes, error messages and the structure of the old database. These details contain none of your drinks.

You can choose to attach your old Leaf data to that email. If you do, we'll be able to see your full drink history. We use it only to fix the problem you've reported. We keep support emails and any attached data only for as long as we need to help you, then delete them.

We use your email only to reply to you. We rely on our legitimate interest in providing support, or your consent where you choose to send us your drink history.

Your rights

Because your diary stays on your iPhone, you're in control of it. You can edit or delete entries in the app, export everything, or delete the app to remove its data from your device.

For anything you've sent us by email, you have rights under UK data protection law. You can ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@ocasta.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Age

Leaf is rated 18+ in the App Store and isn't intended for anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Leaf handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If Leaf ever starts collecting information, for example anonymous usage statistics, we'll say so here and in the App Store before it happens.
