What are Buzz Sessions?

Groups of Albert users can take part in weekly Buzz Sessions which are set up by a manager to help improve knowledge in weak areas. There are 3 types of Buzz session, Group Buzz, Buzz Alone and Custom Buzz. During a Group Buzz session the weakest questions for that store from the previous week are asked.

The manager has to ask the questions to the group and the staff need to buzz in on their own devices. The manager picks whoever was fastest to answer. If they get it wrong, it's open again to the team to buzz in until someone gets it right.

You should have at least 3 people involved in a buzz session, including the manager.

How do I set up a Group Buzz Session?

You'll need to have permission to set up Buzz Sessions. This is usually Managers or higher.

A Group Buzz Session is a session carried out at a particular store. The weakest questions are asked from the previous week. Group Buzz sessions earn XP for the whole store. See this article for more information on XP and leaderboard.

  1. Open the Albert app and navigate to 'Buzz' on the profile screen

  2. Select 'Group Buzz'

  3. Other users can join in using their devices as a buzzer by tapping 'Buzz' on their profile screen (note: if a fellow manager is joining in they can select 'Join Buzz' in the Buzz menu to open the buzzer screen)

  4. When everyone has their buzzers ready the manager can choose to start the buzz session

  5. The manager reads out the questions and the users need to buzz if the know the answer

  6. The user who was the quickest to buzz shares the answer for the manager to tap

  7. Continue until all the questions have been completed

How do I set up a Custom Buzz Session?

Custom Buzz sessions are where managers can create their own custom questions. This feature is useful if a Store Manager for example, wants to test their staff on particular things.

NOTE: Custom Buzz sessions do not earn XP

  1. Open the Albert app and navigate to 'Buzz' on the profile screen

  2. Select 'Custom Buzz'

  3. You will be asked to create questions for your Buzz session. You can create as many as you like. You'll need to enter two incorrect and one correct answer

  4. When all the questions have been added you can invite other users to join to take part

  5. Once everyone is together you can begin

  6. The manager reads out the questions and the users need to buzz if the know the answer

  7. The user who was the quickest to buzz shares the answer for the manager to tap

  8. Continue until all the questions have been completed

  9. The fastest user to buzz can shout out the answer to the group

Buzz Alone

For a Buzz Alone session you only need one person to complete it. They will get asked the questions as normal but there is only one person answering. This is so that users in location types without team mates don't lose out on the XP. In the CMS you can enable any location types you wish as Solo Buzz Permitted, under the 'Location Types' section of 'Locations' (users at these locations will then see Buzz Alone instead of Group Buzz).

What points do I get for taking part in a Buzz Session?

For Buzz Alone or Group Buzz everyone in the store where it has taken place will receive 1000 XP. You can complete the buzz many times in a week, but only 1000 XP will be awarded.
